Work on important
Community School footpath starts in earnest
As regular users of the route will have noticed, work has started
on widening of the Ballyconneely road to provide a footpath and cycle
track from the town to the Clifden Community School. The winding road
currently has no footpath and is regularly used by pedestrians and
cyclists. The section of road currently being widened is regarded
by elected representatives and school Parents' Association as 'particularly
dangerous' for students who walk to and from the school from the Clifden
direction. |

The Search Goes On
The operation to find the missing Cleggan fisherman, Desmond O'Reilly,

of the coastline of Cleggan Bay and Inishboffin. Mr O'Reilly, who is in
his early thirties, went missing at sea on Wednesday 9th October, prompting
a massive rescue operation involving the Clifden and Achill lifeboats,
the Coastguards, Gardai sub-aqua units and the Navy, as well as large
numbers of local vessels and crew.

(leading to) a full and detailed report, which will be brought back to
a future meeting".
