Release
The Bogus Brothers: Plans for a big party to close off the Roundstone
Arts Festival week have now been finalized and will take place on Monday
the 8th of July at Errisbeg House, Roundstone and at the special request
of Marquis Richard de Stacpoole the Bogus Brothers will be appearing as
special guests for one evening only. Richard told us, "this is a
major coup for us here in Roundstone, as I've seen the boys perform before
and never thought we'd be able to get an act of this calibre for our festival
without major sponsorship behind us. This is a fantastic way to round
off the Festival and I'm sure it'll be a night to remember".
Connemara Bog Week
This years Conamara Bog Week kicked off in fine style with the wonderful
Mirella Murray, ace accordion player from Claddaghduff, who was joined
by her good friend, Tola Custy, eminent fiddler from Co. Clare. And what
a mighty night of music, with a bunch of local trad players joining in
the action. (Dont forget to check out Mirella and Tolas brilliant
new album!)

Sell Their First Oyster Harvest - Kane Sisters launch their new CD
The children of Letterfrack National School have gained first-hand experience
of how to run an oyster farm with an innovative project dreamed up by
their Principal Mr. Leo Hallissey. Working with Bord Iascaigh Mhara, Mr.
Hallissey has helped the children to grow oysters from seed, harvest,
clean, grade and sell them.
The Kane sisters, Liz and Yvonne, launched their first CD, 'The Tempered
Bow', on 6th May at the Renvyle House Hotel. A packed house of over two
hundred heard the sisters in concert, performing a selection of tracks
from the album.

HIKING THE HILLS FOR GALWAY
HOSPICE - UPDATE - May 27th 2002
Veronica Sanderson reports: 173 intrepid walkers took off in buses kindly
supplied by Michael Nee and Eoin Linnane from the Station House Hotel
to the start of the walk off the Lough Inagh road. The walkers were accompanied
by guides, all members of the local walking club, under Michael Gibbons
direction, who ably looked after their charges over the two routes of
the walk. Along the way, there were volunteers from the Galway VHF Club
and from Galway Civil Defence to make sure that there was full radio contact
and emergency medical support should it be needed. I am delighted to say
that only one walker suffered a knee injury that required attention.
