The Daily Papers' rugby writers on the morning of this match suggested
that this tie would be a valuable learning experience for the All Blacks
and ruled out any likelihood of Connemara beating a Greystones club who
had done well to win promotion back to Division 2, but how wrong they
were - and how good the All Blacks were.
Clifden Boat Club
Re-opens for the Summer
Clifden Boat Club kicked off it's first social evening of the season,
with a 'Grand Opening' wine and cheese reception on Friday last. The opening
was well attended and a very enjoyable evening was had by all, with many
new memberships being signed up on the night.
Dumpers Beware!
People who illegally abandon old cars in Connemaras countryside
will face court action and heavy fines, according to a Galway County Council
spokesman. The Advertiser was told that the council are determined to
stamp out the illegal dumping of all kinds of waste which includes
scrap cars by prosecuting those responsible.
Clifden Community
School Welcomes Visiting French school
Students from Lycee Behal, Lens, a second-level school in a predominantly
industrial area of northern France (a region now often associated with
international football), were officially welcomed at Clifden Community
School last week at a ceremony attended by staff and students of both
schools.

TRIES GET SHARE OF POINTS by Brendan Mullen
Connemara consolidated their position in fourth place of AIB League Division
Three with a valuable and spirited draw away to Monkstown on Saturday,
16th March. Top scorer on the day was Alan Keogh who grabbed two tries
- one in each half, but the highlight of the game was Feargal ORourkes
brilliant drop goal from over 40 metres out, to level the scores at 16
points each, with three minutes remaining.
