Eamon O'Cuiv, T.D., officially opened the new Inishnee Bridge
with the Chairperson from the Galway County Council, Michael O'Regan,
and in attendance were various Councillors and representatives from Galway
County Council. Father McCarthy and his colleague gave a very nice blessing
ceremony on the bridge. The minister also unveiled a stone plaque.
The new bridge is a great asset to the people of Inishnee
and a great tribute to Bridie Davis who has spent many years lobbying
for funding from both parties and the Galway County Council. I must say
I thought I would never see the day that one could do a three point turn
on the bridge, and as another bonus for the Islanders a fire engine can
now go across. Richard de Stacpoole
