Film Fever hits Clifden
Once again, the town of Clifden has played host to the film industry.
The symptoms were, of course, the usual. Folks in period dress, old cars
parked in strange places, people with walkie-talkies and Gardai controlling
the traffic. The dead giveaway, however, was the ubiquitous refreshments

Special Olympics Report
The great news for Clifden is that the bid submitted by their ad-hoc
group a couple of months ago has been successful. As a result Clifden
will host the athletes and coaches of Estonia in the run-up to the 2003
games.
Rugby Report
Ballina 14 - Connemara 12. Brendan Mullen reports: Connemara travelled
to Ballina on Saturday, 8 December - and learned about the fine line between
winning and losing at this level. Plus Junior Rugby report from Charlie
Bourke.
Sports Stars
For a small school situated in the extreme west of Ireland, Clifden
Community School has an unbelievable record in recent years in the different
fields of sport. Several of its pupils have had international recognition
in Athletics, Basketball, Soccer, Golf and Rugby. Des Fogerty

Craft Fairs
The annual pre-Christmas Craft Fair took place at Peacockes,
Maam Cross recently. Ben Crow talked to the organiser, Assistant

people from the North Connemara District Council area travelled to Sligo
Park Hotel for a Foroige Conference and training weekend on 30th November.
