Connemara Community Arts Group Gets Funding
Pl�ar�ca Teo., the South Connemara community-based arts project, has signed
a 3-year contract with the Department of Social Welfare to receive funding under

picket off - for now
The picket organised in Rosmuc to protest against the planned erection of a
mobile phone mast by Esat Digifone has been lifted, after a letter from the
company was received on Jan. 7th by Seachtas an Crann Cum�rsaide, the anti-mast

Airstrip - Clear for take-Off?
The Clifden Airport issue has resurfaced with the news that the OPW (Office
of Public Works) might ratify a 'land swap' with the Clifden Airport Company
which would grant the Company land deemed to be 'degraded' in Derrygimlagh bog.

Airlifted
from Inisbofin
29 people, locals and tourists, were airlifted off Inishbofin Island yesterday,
and another 30 or so are scheduled to be lifted off today (Sat. 3 Jan.) as a
result of the bad weather.

Galway Airport has been promised the necessary funding to accommodate
medium-sized jets, thereby opening the airport and the surrounding region
to direct flights from Britain and Continental Europe.
